Chameleon on Discovering Coke Studio Again

Celebrated Ugandan singer Chameleone returns to Coke Studio Africa for a second time this year, paired with Mozambican queen of Marrabenta music Neyma. The two will be directed by Nigerian producer Masterkraft on the fourth season of the show. While speaking exclusively to his fans on Coca-Cola’s Facebook Page during a Coke Studio Africa Artist Takeover, we discovered a lot more on the different colours of Chameleone.

A Lover of collabos

Chameleone confesses that he is a lover of music collaborations. Even though he has already had many hits while working jointly with various artists across Africa – he asserts that he won’t stop at that. On the last season of Coke Studio Africa, he collaborated with Nigerian rapper Eva Alordia. He praised the new Discover theme, saying: “In collaborations we are sharing cultures and that is my mission this year.”

He revealed that he will soon be releasing a collaboration with Uhuru and Mafikizolo from South Africa.

Massive Chameleone Concert

Chameleone has promised his Ugandan fans an extraordinary concert soon.

“I have been on the road. Next year I have a surprise treat for my fans - a concert coming soon to appreciate their support. [My fans are the ones] who have lifted me to greatness.”

Chameleone’s Best Female artist

With all the amazing women in African entertainment, Chameleone’s eyes are set on Tanzania. His simple explanation is: “I would love to do a collabo with Vanessa Mdee as she is [simply] the perfect one.”

On Coke Studio Africa 4, Vanessa is back on the show to collaborate with Nigerian Dancehall artiste Patoranking.

Chameleone’s Best Song

During the Facebook Takeover, a fan asked Chameleone which song by an African artiste he likes to groove to. His answer was Duro by the Nigerian singer/producer Tekno. We wonder if Tekno will want to work with Chameleone when he reads this.

Secret to staying at the top

Chameleone’s advice to both upcoming and established artistes is to always focus on reaching an international audience.

“Let nobody discourage you, keep going. Be different as people are looking for something unique in artists.”

Chameleone’s 16 albums are a perfect show of his hard work, but he emphasizes that one must stay humble.

“I have seen it all [and to be fair] it’s the fans who have made me what I am. I am enjoying God’s blessings as I strive to be the best role model I can ever be.”
