The Nigerian artiste, comedian and actor Folarin Falz Falana a.k.a Falz The Bahd Guy is undoubtedly one of Nigeria’s most talented musical exports this decade. Clinching a BET Award and an Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Award, two coveted accolades in African music and film, is enough show of his diverse talent. Falz’s trademark sound is funky cool, garnished with pop and street vibes. His rap style comprises witty lines, local dialects and comedic tones, setting him apart from his peers. He returns to Coke Studio Africa 2017 to collaborate with Ugandan music legend Bebe Cool. On Coke Studio Africa season 4, Falz was paired with Tanzanian rapper Joh Makini.

Falz’s discography includes “Shakara the Mixtape” and two studio albums: “Wazup Guy” (2014) and “Stories That Touch” (2015) which have both been produced under the Bahdguy Records label, which he also heads as CEO. “Wazup Guy had hits like Toyin Tomato and Marry Me featuring Yemi Alade and Poe. His second album “Stories That Touch” was one of Nigeria’s best albums of 2015, birthing hits like Soft Work, Karishika featuring Phyno, Soldier featuring Coke Studio Africa 4 artiste Simi and Celebrity Girlfriend with Reekado Banks.

On the success of his latest album, Falz said: “The project tells stories that I think everyone can visualize. There are songs there for every individual. The idea is for you to listen and feel like you are the one that I'm rapping about. I want people to enter into the spirit of my music.”

His major awards include Best Male Actor in a comedy at the 2015 AMVCA Awards and a 2016 BET Award for Viewers Choice Best New International Act.

Falz derives a lot of inspiration from other artistes and collaborations. His earlier notable hit songs include Wazup Guy, Cool Parry, High Class and Currency. His popularity has grown tremendously over the past few years thanks to radio and TV rotations of his videos and his strong social media presence through his alter ego named Broda Taju, who likes to post short funny video skits to entertain fans and promote his music. In 2015, he went viral with his #ElloBaeChallenge prior to the release of the hit single Ello Bae.

Falz was born in Lagos, Nigeria and went to Olashore International School Iloko-Ijesa, Osun State where he took up music as a hobby. He nurtured his passion for the arts while studying Law in the University of Reading, UK. His acclaimed mixtape “Shakara the Mixtape” came out in 2009. Falz then returned home to complete the Nigerian Law School programme and officially become a qualified Barrister by February 2012.
