Betty G of the acclaimed hit single “Yekelekilal” is one of Ethiopia’s fastest rising music stars. Her ability to sing in French, English and Amharic has given her an edge in the music scene as she continues to draw an international audience. Showcasing the richness and beauty of Ethiopian culture through her music projects, Betty G made her debut on Coke Studio Africa in 2016 collaborating with X Maleya from Cameroon. She returns to the show this year paired alongside Tanzanian songstress Nandy.


Betty G is currently working under One Vision Production group on a new album, while being mentored by artistes such as Nhatty Man, Henock Negash and The Ras Band. She has been on tours around the world and had an opportunity to collaborate with international artistes such as jazz great Tomas Doncker.


Betty G is a conscious artiste who uses her music to create awareness on issues like global warming. In order to champion this cause, she has collaborated with legendary Nigerian artiste Ras Kimono and is currently the ambassador for Studio Samuel - a non-governmental organization that empowers women in Ethiopia to overcome poverty and change their lives.


Betty G was born as Bruktwait Getahun in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She attended Lycee Gebre Mariam, a French High School. She later joined the Commercial College of Addis Ababa and a French University, Universite de L”IAE Politier, via correspondence, graduating in 2009 with a dual degree in Office Management and General Management. With a music career starting humbly during her High School days, Betty G’s stature has today seen her collaborate with several prominent Ethiopian artistes including Teddy Afro, Zeritu Kebede, Jhonny Raga and Natael Ayalew (Nhatty Man). On Coke Studio Africa 2017, Betty G will be collaborating with Cameroonian music group: X-Maleya as produced by Nigeria’s Chopstix.
