Elisa Lisete James Humbane, popularly known as Lizha James is one of the biggest musicians in Lusophone Africa. Born in the Mozambican capital of Maputo her music style includes a mixture of rhythms like Marrabenta, Reggae, R&B and hip hop. She is also famous for singing in the Mozambican style Dzukuta Pandza. Some of Lizha’s hit songs include Chocolate and Quem Ti Mandou featuring Uhuru. Lizha makes her debut on Coke Studio Africa season 4 paired with Kenyan all-male group: The Kansoul.
Lizha’s career has been under the entertainment label; Bang Entertainment. Founded by her boyfriend Bang, the label promotes Mozambican music and hosts events in the country. The label used to handle many of the best Mozambican artistes like Valdomiro Jose, Dama Do Bling, Ziqo, Denny OG and Marlenn. Lizha has won several awards: Prize TVZINE for Best Singer (Mozambique) in 2005, Channel O Music Video Awards - Best Female Video (4 All Ya) in 2006, Channel O Music Video Awards - Best R&B Video (Nuna Wa Mina) in 2007, Channel O Music Video Awards - Best Female Video (Nita Mukuma Kwini) in 2008 and Channel O Music Video Awards - Best Southern African Video (Estilo Xakhale) in 2009.
In 2011, Lizha released Nandi We, a song that speaks against domestic violence, and Stop Trafico, financed by the US Embassy in Mozambique. The song talks about children trafficking and aims to sensitize the public on the issue. Together with top Mozambican artistes, Lizha has performed on various platforms belting out her famous songs including Amigo e Quem Ajuda (A friend is the one who helps) and Sekelekane.
In 2010, Lizha got engaged and married her long-term boyfriend and music producer - Bang. The 33-year-old star has a baby girl.
